Tyler Philip Dead, Jaden Stevens and Another Hurt in Head-On Accident on Highway 395

 
LOON LAKE, WA (August 25, 2023) — A 27-year-old man identified as Tyler Philip, of Kettle Falls, died in a head-on crash on Thursday, August 10.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 12:00 a.m. on Highway 395 north of Loon Lake.
 
WSP said Philip drove a 2007 Toyota Camry southbound in the northbound lane. Then it struck a 1994 GMC Sierra moving northbound.
 
Officials said the collision resulted in a fatality. Philip died due to sustained injuries at the time of the crash.
 
Paramedics airlifted the driver of the GMC, 26-year-old Jaden Stevens, of Spokane to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. A 45-year-old passenger in the GMC also suffered injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.
 
Officials said Philip wore a seatbelt and Stevens was not.
 
WSP ruled the cause of the crash as reckless driving. However, it is not yet determined whether impairment is also a factor.
