Semi-Truck Spill Causes Motorcycle Crash on 182 Freeway in Richland

RICHLAND, WA (June 17, 2024) – The Richland Police Department confirmed that two motorcycles crashed on 182 Freeway on May 30.

The Washington State Patrol said the collision happened at the Highway 240 exit. Based on a report, a semi-truck spilled potato sludge on the roadway before the crash.

The sludge made the roadway slippery. Subsequently, two separate motorcycles lost control and crashed in the lanes.

As a result, the drivers of both motorcycles sustained minor injuries. Emergency crews took one passenger to a hospital in stable condition.

The truck driver did not stop following the spill. WSP is asking them to come forward. They also urged anyone with information on the incident to call 509-734-7034.

At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
