Two Dead in Rollover Crash on 19 Freeway

 
NOGALES, AZ (January 21, 2025) — Two people died in a rollover accident on the 19 Freeway on Wednesday, January 15.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred around 3:43 p.m. on 19 Freeway near Highway 289.
 
Arizona DPS said a passenger sedan traveled southbound on 19 Freeway. Then, the driver lost control for unknown reasons. After that, the vehicle struck another vehicle before crossing the median. Lastly, it rolled over and came to rest in the northbound lanes.
 
The impact ejected both the driver and passenger from the sedan. Responding officers pronounced them dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
 
Meanwhile, the occupants of the second vehicle did not sustain any injuries.
 
Officials closed temporarily closed both directions of 19 Freeway. They reopened it later that evening.
 
The Arizona DPS continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
