Luis Ochoa Dead after Bicycle Accident in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (January 21, 2025) — A 41-year-old man identified as Luis Sanchez Ochoa, died in a bicycle accident on Wednesday, January 15.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:33 a.m. at the intersection of Lamb Boulevard and Stewart Avenue.
 
Metro Deputy Chief Branden Clarkson reported that officers attempted to stop a vehicle at Charleston Boulevard and Lamb Boulevard for a minor traffic infraction. However, the driver fled northbound on Lamb Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
 
Then the suspect’s vehicle collided with another vehicle. After that, it hit Ochoa, who was riding his bicycle. Then the vehicle ultimately crashed into a wall.
 
Emergency personnel pronounced Ochoa dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the vehicle that was struck sustained minor injuries. Paramedics brought them transported to a local hospital.
 
Police apprehended the suspect driver, who now faces charges related to the fatal accident.
 
The LVMPD continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
 
The incident marks the first bicyclist fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2025.
