Speeding Car Involved in Fatal Crash on Country Club Road in El Paso

EL PASO, TX (June 23, 2023) – Police confirmed that two people died in a high-speed crash in the 500 block of Country Club Road on June 18.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened shortly before 3:00 AM. Based on a report, the victims were driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed while evading authorities in New Mexico before the crash.

As their vehicle came along the painted center median of Country Club Road, they came upon a roundabout and struck a landscape boulder and a traffic sign. The impact caused the vehicle to veer to the right, up onto the curb where it struck a tree.

As a result, the driver and front passenger of the car died in the crash. Officials did not yet release their names, pending kin notification.

The back passengers were all transported to area hospitals for treatment of various injuries. The victims were all from Mexico. Their ages are 61, 24, 49, 37, 24, 48, and 18.

Investigators found that three of the passengers were sitting on the lap of the three passengers sitting on the seats.

As of now, the case remains under investigation.
