Car Catches Fire in Fatal Car Crash on Highway 95 in Hawthorne

 
HAWTHORNE, NV (July 16, 2023) – Authorities confirmed that two people died in a fiery car crash on Highway 95 on July 3.
 
According to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, the collision happened near mile marker 39 at approximately 4:43 PM. Based on a report, a car that was traveling south slowed down for an emergency vehicle prior to the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a bus struck it from behind. The bus then veered into the northbound lane, striking a vehicle that was traveling north on the highway. Subsequently, the bus traveled off the road, where it overturned and caught on fire.
 
As a result, two people died at the scene. Officials did not yet release their names, pending kin notification.
 
Crews took two others to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
At this point, officers continue to investigate the case.
