Troy Downing, Lisa Downing, Saul Diaz and Jose Camacho Injured, Ray Valdez Arrested in Walla Walla Crash

4 Identified in Car Crash on Highway 12 in Walla Walla

 
WALLA WALLA, WA (October 20, 2023) – Officers identified 59-year-old Troy Downing, 57-year-old Lisa Downing, 46-year-old Saul F. Diaz, and 38-year-old Jose R. Rodriguez Camacho who suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 12 on October 14.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 7:30 PM. Based on a report, 24-year-old Ray C. Valdez of Kennewick was driving a 2006 Mercedes east on Highway 12 at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he attempted to pass Troy Downing’s Toyota pickup and the Ford SUV of Diaz at a high speed. He then hit the back of the pickup and then the pickup hit the SUV. Valdez ran from the scene after the crash.
 
Consequently, Troy and Lisa sustained injuries in the incident. They were transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center for treatment. Crews took Diaz and Camacho to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.
 
Walla Walla Sheriff’s Office deputies apprehended and took Valdez to the Walla Walla hospital with charges against him pending.
