Tonya Gonzales Identified in Fatal Crash on Texaco Road in Longview

 
LONGVIEW, TX (July 14, 2023) – Officials identified 50-year-old Tonya E. Gonzales of Longview who died in a crash on Highway 42 on July 2.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Texaco Road. Based on a report, Gonzales was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima eastbound on Texaco Road and approaching the intersection at the time of the crash.
 
At the same time, Matthew Mason of Pensacola, Florida was driving a 2014 Freightliner semi-truck on the highway. Due to unknown reasons, Gonzales disregarded the stop sign and crashed into the semi-truck.
 
As a result, she suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Crews took Mason to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Kilgore with non-life threatening injuries.
