80-Year-Old Tommy Bates Dies in Bryson Semi-Truck Crash

 
BRYSON, TX (March 28, 2024) — Authorities identified 80-year-old Tommy Bates, of Graham, as the man killed in a semi-truck crash on Friday, March 22.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash took place on Highway 380 just before 5:15 a.m.
 
Texas DPS said a truck tractor with a semi-trailer traveled westbound on Highway 380. Then it backed unsafely with the trailer and crossed into the eastbound lane of the highway. After that, a 2002 Ford Ranger moving east struck the trailer.
 
Bates, who was the driver of the pickup, died at the scene due to sustained injuries in the crash.
 
The driver of the truck tractor did not sustain any injuries in the incident. They identified him as 68-year-old Paige Conway Amado of Dallas, Texas,
 
Reports said the posted speed limit at the scene is 65 mph. The weather and road conditions were clear and dry when the incident occurred.
