Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on 80 Freeway near Richards Boulevard in Davis
DAVIS, CA (October 2, 2022) – Police confirmed three deaths in a wrong-way crash on 80 Freeway on September 25.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Richards Boulevard around 3:10 AM.
Based on a report, an Infiniti was driving east in the westbound lanes of the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it entered the wrong way and struck a Hyundai head-on.
As a result, the 31-year-old driver and the 27-year-old passenger in the Infiniti, as well as the 30-year-old driver of the Hyundai died in the incident.
Two passengers in the Hyundai suffered major injuries in the and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officials did not yet release their names, pending kin notification.
Alcohol is a possibility but an investigation into the case is ongoing. At this point, no other details are available.
