Suspected DUI Driver Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident on 39th Street in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO,CA (October 2, 2022) – Police confirmed the death of a 1-year-old girl following a pedestrian accident 39th Street on September 24.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Redwood Street around 6:45 PM.
 
Based on a report, the girl wandered into the street at the time of the accident. As she stepped onto the road, a 1999 Toyota 4Runner heading east on Redwood struck her. Subsequently, the driver then drove away from the scene.
 
As a result, the child died at the hospital due to severe head injuries. Police did not yet release her identity.
 
Later on, police arrested the 45-year-old male driver of the vehicle at his home after witnesses told officers the license plate information on the vehicle. He is suspected of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended or revoked license and hit and run.
 
At this point, an investigation is still ongoing.
