Three Dead after Tonopah Pickup Truck Accident on 10 Freeway

 
TONOPAH, AZ (December 18, 2023) — Three people died after a pickup truck crash on 10 Freeway on Sunday, December 17.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway near MM 76.
 
DPS officials said an SUV traveled at a high rate of speed on 10 Freeway. Then it hit a disabled pickup truck as well as two people standing outside the truck.
 
Officials pronounced the driver and a passenger in the SUV dead at the scene. Paramedics airlifted two other passengers in the SUV to the hospital for their injuries.
 
A passenger in the truck also died at the scene. First responders also flew the driver of the truck to the hospital for their injuries.
 
Officers have not released the identities of the victims.
 
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway for several hours during the crash investigation. They have since reopened.
