Richard Walker Identified in Fatal Head-On Crash on FM-707 in Taylor County
TAYLOR COUNTY, TX (December 18, 2023) – Officers identified 55-year-old Richard Walker of Abilene who died in a crash on FM-707 on December 7.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at CR-314. Based on a report, Walker was driving a 2015 Kia Soul passenger car southbound on FM-707 before the crash.
At the same time, 79-year-old Kenneth Oneal of Abilene was northbound on FM-707 in a 2002 Ford SUV approaching the same intersection. Due to unknown reasons, Oneal’s SUV failed to yield the right of way and collided with Walker’s Kia head-on.
Walker was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered grave injuries. Crews transported him to Hendrick Medical Center, where he later died.
Walker’s passenger, 40-year-old Cheyarle Lopez, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Oneal was wearing a seatbelt and did not suffer any injuries.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
