Thomas McAlpine Identified in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 287 in Wilbarger County
WILBARGER COUNTY, TX (September 18, 2023) – Officials identified 34-year-old Thomas McAlpine of Altus, Oklahoma who died in a two-car crash on Highway 287 on September 5.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened about two miles west of Harrold shortly after 4:30 PM. Based on a report, McAlpine was driving a Dodge Ram southeast on the highway prior to the crash.
At the same time, a GMC Sierra truck hauling a gooseneck trailer was traveling on the same road. Due to unknown reasons, McAlpine failed to control its speed and struck the rear end of the GMC truck’s trailer.
As a result, McAlpine suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
The 59-year-old driver and two passengers, ages 60 and 29, inside the GMC truck were not hurt in the wreck.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
