Thiago Gamaro Detained in Fatal DUI Crash in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (March 12, 2024) – The Houston Police Department arrested 21-year-old Thiago Ortega Gamaro of Houston following a fatal crash in the 7500 block of North Freeway on March 3.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 4:35 AM. Based on a report, Gamaro was driving a white Honda Accord at a high rate of speed northbound on the freeway prior to the crash.
 
Officers said his male passenger was sitting on the hood of the car. Due to unknown reasons, the passenger was ejected from the hood and landed on the ground. Subsequently, one or more vehicles hit the victim.
 
As a result, Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. Officials did not release the victim’s identity, pending kin notification.
 
HPD charged Gamaro with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #6.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
