Terry Ripplinger Identified in Fatal Car Accident Involving Trucks on Highway 70 in Graham County, 71-Year-Old Mary Ripplinger Seriously Injured

 
GRAHAM COUNTY, AZ (March 31, 2023) – Officers identified 68-year-old Terry Lynn Ripplinger of Safford as the victim who died in an accident on Highway 70 on March 28.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 6:16 AM.
 
Based on a report, the victim was driving a 2019 Nissan Altima westbound on the highway while two Peterbilt semi-trucks were eastbound. The driver of the first semi, 58-year-old David Wayne Pinkerton of Phoenix, began to slow down. However, the second driver, 55-year-old Aaron Wayne Thorson of Colorado Springs struck the first semi’s rear with force. Then, the second semi veered westbound and struck Ripplinger’s Nissan. In the end, the second semi rolled over onto its side.
 
As a result, Ripplinger died in the incident.
 
Medical crews airlifted the victim’s wife, 71-year-old Mary Ann Ballard Ripplinger, to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson for various injuries, including multiple fractures and abdominal pain.
 
Crews transported Thorson to MGRMC for minor injuries. He was given a citation for failure to yield to avoid an accident and for not wearing a seat belt.
