RYE, TX (December 22, 2023) – Troopers identified 49-year-old Teri Bellissima Rossi who died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 146 on December 13.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision possibly happened just south of the Liberty-Polk county line between 10:00 PM and midnight. Based on a report, Rossi was walking home from a friend’s house along the highway at the time of the accident.
 
Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle struck her and fled the scene. A passing motorist discovered her body around 7:00 AM.
 
Officers said the victim suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Responders found debris from a Dodge Ram, possibly dark grey to charcoal. Currently, authorities ask witnesses to call the DPS office at 936-391-3500 or call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4550 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-392-7867.
