Driver Dead in Truck Accident on Highway 69 [Rockland, TX]

One Fatally Injured in Truck Crash on Highway 69 near Jasper County Line Road

 
ROCKLAND, TX (December 22, 2023) — A driver died after a truck accident on Highway 69 on Tuesday, December 5.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at around 3:52 p.m., a Kenworth 18-wheeler moved north on Highway 69. Then it stopped because of the construction just north of the Jasper County Line Road.
 
After that, a Ford F-150 crashed into the back of the 18-wheeler. The collision caused the pickup to catch fire.
 
The driver of the pickup succumbed to sustained injuries from the incident. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
 
DPS continues to investigate the fatal crash.
