PHOENIX, AZ (January 11, 2024) – Phoenix Police confirmed that a homeless man died in a pedestrian accident on 51st Avenue on January 3.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Camelback Road shortly after 11:30 PM. Based on the report, the pedestrian was sleeping in the roadway near a shopping cart.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle came on the access road and struck him.
 
As a result, the man suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported him to a hospital, where he later died. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
The driver remained on the scene and showed signs of impairment. Police arrested and booked him for DUI.
