Pedestrian Steven Penick Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Lufkin
LUFKIN, TX (June 8, 2023) – Officials identified 55-year-old Steven Penick who died in a pedestrian accident on Paul Avenue on May 31.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Timberland Drive around 9:00 PM. Based on a report, the victim was a homeless man who was jaywalking at the intersection prior to the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, the driver of a Honda Accord hit him. The female driver said she attempted to avoid the man but was unable to do so.
As a result, Penick suffered grave injuries due to impact. Emergency crews transported him to a local hospital, where he later died.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
