Bicyclist Killed, Steven Bielas Arrested in Lakewood Accident on Wadsworth Boulevard

 
LAKEWOOD, CO (April 11, 2023) – Lakewood Police officers arrested 30-year-old Steven Bielas of Denver after a fatal hit-and-run accident in the 600 block of Wadsworth Boulevard on April 2.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened near 6th Avenue around 10:00 PM. Based on a report, a cyclist was riding a motorized bicycle in the southbound lanes of Wadsworth Boulevard at the time of the accident.
 
Due to unknown reasons, Bielas struck the victim with his 2007 Maroon FJ Cruiser and left the scene.
 
As a result, the man sustained serious injuries in the incident. He later died at the hospital.
 
The Denver Police Department notified Lakewood officers that they had located the FJ Cruiser and its driver. Officers arrested and charged Bielas with failing to remain at the scene of a crash resulting in death.
 
As of now, an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
