Lance Modisette, Sherry Randall Die after Nacogdoches Car Accident

 
NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (May 30, 2023) — Two people have now died from a car accident earlier in the month on May 19.
 
Authorities identified the driver as 18-year-old Lance Modisette of Lufkin. Modisette died at the scene and was part of the Thundering 13 baseball team as well as the Lufkin Panther baseball team.
 
71-year-old Sherry Randall of Nacogdoches died days after sustaining injuries in the accident.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Randall drove her 2006 Toyota Avalon at around 4:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 259. Then she tried to turn into a private driveway. However, a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro reportedly moving at a high rate of speed struck her vehicle.
 
The Camaro overturned multiple times after the incident.
 
Nacogdoches Justice of the Peace Dorothy Tigner-Thompson pronounced Modisette dead at the scene.
 
Modisette’s passenger, 18-year-old Trennan Bearden, of Lufkin, received treatment at Nacogdoches Medical Center.
 
Paramedics also transported Randall to Nacogdoches Medical Center for treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries and died on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
 
Authorities said that a 2018 Ford Mustang hit the debris from the incident. The driver was not hurt.
 
DPS continues to investigate the crash.
