Man Dead in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
FIFE, WA (February 15, 2025) — A 63-year-old Seattle man died in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway on Sunday, February 2.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of 5 Freeway just past Port of Tacoma Road.
 
Authorities said the man initially stood on the right shoulder. Then he entered the freeway. He made it to the third lane when a northbound vehicle struck him.
 
WSP said the pedestrian died at the scene of the crash.
 
The vehicle driven by a 62-year-old Tacoma man with a 66-year-old passenger, remained at the scene. Neither the driver nor the passenger sustained injuries.
 
Officials confirmed that impairment was not a factor in the accident.
 
The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
