Sean Morris Killed and Colton Gerrel Injured in Four-Vehicle Accident on 20 Freeway

 
CRANE COUNTY, TX (August 12, 2024) — 49-year-old Sean Guy Morris, of Gardendale, died in a four-vehicle accident on Tuesday, July 30.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at about 9:00 a.m. on the westbound 20 Freeway in Crane County at mile marker 90.
 
Texas DPS said in the report that Morris drove a 2019 Toyota Tundra on 20 Freeway. Due to traffic, he was waiting at a standstill behind 52-year-old Armando Valencia who drove a Kenworth Truck with a trailer.
 
At the same time, 32-year-old Colton Gerrel drove a 2024 Ram 2500 westbound on 20 Freeway near mile marker 90. Then he rear-ended Morris. Due to the impact of the collision, Morris’ vehicle slammed into Valencia’s Kenworth truck.
 
According to DPS, Gerrel then continued into the outside lane and struck a 2019 Ford F-150 driven by 24-year-old Brian Ramos-Portillo.
 
Paramedics pronounced Morris dead at the scene. Meanwhile, they brought Gerrel to Odessa’s Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries.
 
Valencia and Ramos-Portillo were not hurt by the incident.
 
The accident is still under investigation.
