Sarah Maake Dies in Centerville Car Accident on 45 Freeway
CENTERVILLE, TX (July 31, 2023) — A 39-year-old woman identified as Sarah Maake died after a car crash on Thursday, July 13.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the single-vehicle accident took place on the 45 Freeway near mile marker 167.
DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz said it happened about 7:54 a.m. when the rear tired of a Ford Excursion traveling northbound blew out. Then the SUV went off the roadway and overturned.
Leon County Justice of the Peace Randee Doak pronounced Maake dead at the scene.
Paramedics airlifted two girls, ages 8 and 12, to Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple. Both suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
