MODESTO, CA (November 10, 2022) — Rosario Guadalupe Velarde Requena, Gerardo Duran-Escatel and two officers where injured in a car crash on Yosemite Boulevard early Sunday morning, November 6.

The collision occurred at around 2:45 a.m. near and Albers Road and Geer Road, involving a CHP 2017 Dodge Charger and a 2014 Dodge SUV. Authorities said two officers turned on the sirens and lights of the Charger as they traveled west along Yosemite Boulevard in a bid to respond to a traffic incident.

The Charger then entered the Albers Road and Geer Road intersection at the same time as the southbound SUV, driven by the 50-year-old Requena of Ceres who had the 51-year-old Duran-Escatel as a passenger.

The SUV slammed into the right side of the Charger and propelled the CHP vehicle in a southwest direction into a power pole.

The two officers, ages 29 and 28, both of whom have had at least five years of service in the department, received treatment for minor lacerations and pain at the Doctors Medical Center.

Also transported to the same medical center for treatment were Requena and Duran-Escatel, both of whom had complaints of pain.

The circumstances and factors surrounding the incident remain under investigation. No other information is available at this time.
