Angel Rivera-Montelongo, Riley Copeland Die in Nacogdoches County Accident
NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (December 5, 2024) — Riley Copeland and Angel Rivera-Montelongo died in a crash on Tuesday, November 26.
According to the release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred on Highway 21 shortly before 6:00 p.m.
The release said a 2013 Ram 2500, driven by 19-year-old Riley Copeland, of Chireno, traveled west on Highway 21. Then it crossed the center stripe into the oncoming lane.
After that, Copeland sideswiped a 2012 Dodge Ram driven by 61-year-old Jose Galves, of Nacogdoches. Then it crashed head-on with a Ford F-350 driven by 20-year-old Angel Rivera-Montelongo, of Nacogdoches.
Responding officers said Copeland and Rivera-Montelongo both died on the scene. The release says Galves was not hurt in the incident.
Texas DPS continues to investigate the accident.
