COWLITZ COUNTY, WA (December 5, 2024) — 37-year-old Tory L. Majerus, of Kelso, and three others were hurt in a crash on Wednesday, November 27.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred on the northbound 5 Freeway near milepost 25 at around 6:30 p.m.
 
WSP said a white 2015 Toyota Highlander driven by Majerus was on the 5 Freeway. In front of it was a white 2011 Subaru Forester driven by 29-year-old Rachael L. Thomas, of Ridgefield. Then the Subaru slowed for traffic and the Toyota hit it.
 
Majerus was the only occupant of the Highlander. Meanwhile, authorities identified the passengers in the Subaru included as 42-year-old Scott R. Gibson and a 7-year-old boy, both from Salkum.
 
Emergency responders transported all persons involved to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center for treatment.
 
WSP later determined following too close was the cause of the collision. They also said that impairment was not a factor in the incident.
