Richard Uzohu Identified in Single-Vehicle Accident in Carson County

 
CARSON COUNTY, TX (July 26, 2024) – Officials identified 38-year-old Richard Uzohu of Las Vegas who died in a box truck accident on 40 Freeway on July 5.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 8:30 AM. Based on a report, Uzohu was one of those who perished after a box truck crashed on the freeway near Groom.
 
The victim was driving a 2021 International straight truck east in the left lane when it drifted off the road. The truck then traveled partially into the center median and hit the north side guardrail, flattening all three tires on the left side. The truck crossed both eastbound lanes and hit the guardrail on the south side. It overturned onto its left side and landed on the concrete bridge railing.
 
The impact crushed the roof of the cab. It came to rest on its top, partially hanging off the bridge.
 
As a result, Uzohu and an unidentified passenger suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
