Jheovanny Fernandez Arrested, Police Hurt after DUI Crash in Wickenburg

 
WICKENBURG, AZ (July 26, 2024) — Officers arrested 24-year-old Jheovanny Penuelas Fernandez after a DUI accident on Sunday, July 7.
 
According to the Wickenburg police, at about 1:00 a.m., officers tried to stop a Cadillac SUV driver for going 52 mph in a 30 mph zone.
 
Police said that Fernandez was behind the wheel of the vehicle. He then fled from the police because he was under the influence and had other pending criminal matters.
 
Police say Fernandez drove through residential areas. Then he crashed head-on into a police car after the officers stopped following him.
 
Fernandez was not hurt. However, the police officer sustained minor injuries.
 
Authorities said Fernandez had a blood alcohol content of 0.133%. They then booked him on several charges, including DUI, reckless driving, endangerment, aggravated assault, unlawful flight, and criminal speed.
 
In addition, police said Fernandez was illegally in the country.
