ABILENE, TX (June 13, 2023) – The Abilene Police Department identified 28-year-old Richard Charles Simmons of Abilene who died in a bicycle accident on Highway 80 on June 3.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Bandera Park Drive. Based on a report, the victim was riding down the highway at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a box truck that was heading west on the highway struck him.
 
As a result, emergency crews pronounced Simmons dead at the scene.
