Refugio Chavez Jr. Killed in Hit-and-Run Driver on Guadalupe Street in Laredo

 
LAREDO, TX (December 15, 2022) – Laredo Police identified 44-year-old Refugio Chavez Jr. as the victim who was killed by a hit-and-run vehicle in the 3000 block of Guadalupe Street on December 9.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Chavez was on Guadalupe at the time of the crash. As he was crossing the street, a black sport utility vehicle with bright lights struck him.
 
Subsequently, the vehicle fled the scene, without giving aid to the victim.
 
As a result, Chavez suffered severe injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he died.
 
The SUV has discoloration or spots throughout the vehicle. Officers ask anyone with information on the case, to call police at 795-2800 or Laredo Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS (8477). As of now, the case remains under investigation.
