Ramon Aaknes Dead, Driver Arrested in Phoenix Hit-and-Run

 
PHOENIX, AZ (April 10, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 31-year-old Ramon Aaknes as the victim who died in a hit-and-run on 7th Avenue on March 30.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Indian School Road. Based on a report, Aaknes was crossing into oncoming traffic at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a truck struck him and fled the scene.
 
As a result, officers found Aaknes with serious injuries. He died of his injuries at the hospital.
 
Detectives later found the driver of the truck who showed signs of impairment. He was taken to the hospital and will be booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
 
As of now, officers continue to investigate the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
