Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Pima County Sheriff’s Deputy on Highway 86 in Pima County

 
PIMA COUNTY, AZ (October 24, 2023) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a deputy was involved in a fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 86 on October 14.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 5:00 AM. Based on a report, PCSO Deputy Matthew Horrigan was driving in a marked patrol vehicle on his way to the Ajo district at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he struck a pedestrian in the lanes. Investigators say the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and lying in the middle of the road at that point.
 
As a result, the victim sustained grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
Deputy Horrigan was not hurt and stayed at the scene.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
