Pedro Gutierrez Identified in Fatal Brownsville Accident on Highway 281
BROWNSVILLE, TX (April 20, 2023) – Officers identified 44-year-old Pedro Omar Gutierrez of Harlingen as the victim who died in an accident involving a tractor-trailer on Highway 281 on April 6.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at La Avenida Iglesia around 6:25 AM.
Based on a report, Gutierrez was driving a white Ford F-150 westbound on the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a Kenworth truck tractor-trailer failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign from La Avenida.
Then, the truck struck Gutierrez’s Ford, sending its the entire front underneath the truck’s trailer.
As a result, Gutierrez suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
His passenger was transported to a local hospital for his injuries while the truck driver was not hurt.
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
