Pedro Arroyo Dies in Austin Car Accident
AUSTIN, TX (September 2, 2024) — 30-year-old Pedro Arroyo suffered fatal injuries in a five-vehicle accident on Thursday, August 15.
According to the Austin Police Department, the crash happened around 11:27 p.m. in the 12500 block of the 35 Freeway.
Austin Police said the five vehicles were part of a collision on the northbound lanes of South 35 Freeway.
First responders transported Arroyo, who was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles, to a local hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries and died two days later.
Paramedics also brought the occupants of a second vehicle to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Those in the remaining three cars were not hurt in the incident.
APD continues to investigate the cause of the crash. They urge anyone with information to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111.
This incident marks Austin’s 56th traffic-related death this year.
