SACRAMENTO, CA (August 22, 2022) — A person was killed after getting hit by a vehicle in a pedestrian crash on Florin Road on Wednesday, August 17.

According to the California Highway Patrol – South Sacramento, the fatal collision took place on the said road past 65th Street.

Authorities said a Dodge Challenger was heading east on Florin Road when a pedestrian attempted to travel across the road despite the absence of a crosswalk.

The driver of the Dodge Challenger did not react in time, hitting the person crossing the street.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge Challenger driver did not flee the scene and cooperated with police.

Upon preliminary investigation, officials deduced that the influence of drugs or alcohol did not appear as a factor in the incident.
