Fatal Car Crash in Apple Valley
APPLE VALLEY, CA (August 22, 2022) – One person died while four others suffered injuries after a head-on crash near Bear Valley Road and Tujunga Drive on Wednesday, August 17.
Authorities responded to the scene of the accident around 12:46 p.m. The fatal collision involved a Robertson double-trailer powder hauler, a 2017 Subaru Forester, and a four-door Mazda sedan.
Responding firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District confirmed that one of the victims died at the scene.
The officials also provided immediate medical treatment to four other people, all of whom suffered injuries. One of them was the driver of the semi, who was trapped in his vehicle. According to Battalion Chief, Anthony Mejia it took around 45 minutes for the driver to be extricated. An airship then transported him to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he was reported to be in a stable condition.
Another victim in a critical condition was airlifted at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
The accident also caused one of the wooden utility poles to be damaged. In that case, employees of the Southern California Edison (SCE) responded and took care of that matter.
Authorities closed down the roads in long Bear Valley Road during the onset of the crash.
