Man Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver on Highway 160 in Costilla County

 
COSTILLA COUNTY, CO (April 9, 2024) – Troopers confirmed that a 66-year-old pedestrian died in a hit-and-run on Highway 160 on March 27.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened just over four miles northeast of Fort Garland around 6:20 AM. Based on a report, the pedestrian was standing outside his vehicle in the roadway.
 
Due to unknown reasons, an eastbound car hit him and fled the scene.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
Officials are seeking the community’s help in finding the vehicle that may have damage to the windshield and hood. They urge anyone with information on its driver to contact CSP at (719) 589-9591 and reference case number 5B240265.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
