Paula Cely-Bernal Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Arlington

 
ARLINGTON, TX (January 11, 2024) – The Arlington Police Department arrested 25-year-old Paula Cely-Bernal following a fatal hit-and-run on East Park Row Drive on December 18.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Susan Drive at approximately 9:16 PM. Based on a report, Cely-Bernal was driving a 2014 Mazda 6 and was turning left from the westbound lanes of Park Row Drive.
 
At that time, a 2013 Honda Civic was traveling eastbound through the intersection. Due to unknown reasons, Cely-Bernal struck the Civic and caused it to leave the roadway. The Civic then hit a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported her to the hospital, where they later died. Officials have not released the victim’s identity, pending kin notification.
 
The driver of the Civic stayed on scene, called 911, and cooperated with investigators. Officers determined Cely-Bernal to be at fault for the wreck. The suspect fled the scene and was later arrested on one count of Accident Involving Death.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
