17-Year-Old Anahi Leanos Killed, 18-Year-Old Ruger Clark Arrested in Crash on Border Highway [El Paso, TX]

Anahi Leanos Identified in Fatal Crash on Border Highway in El Paso

 
EL PASO, TX (January 11, 2024) – Police identified 17-year-old Anahi Karla Leanos who died in a wrong-way crash on Highway 6 on January 5.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 1:30 AM. Based on a report, Leanos’ vehicle broke down on the eastbound lane of the highway at mile marker 56.
 
While Leanos was waiting for assistance, 18-year-old Ruger Garrett Clark came swerving in the middle lane. Subsequently, he crashed into the back of Leanos’ stalled vehicle at high speed.
 
As a result, Leanos had grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Police said Clark fled the scene after checking on the victim.
 
Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested Clark after taking him to a local hospital for minor injuries. They booked him into the El Paso County Detention Facility and charged him with intoxication manslaughter with a $100,000 bond and a collision involving death with a $75,000 bond.
 
A GoFundMe account was set up to help the family with the victim’s funeral costs.
