Patricia Wingo Dies in Gaines County Crash Involving Suspected DUI Driver Brian Armendariz

 
GAINES COUNTY, TX (October 13, 2022) – Police identified 79-year-old Patricia Wingo as the victim in a fatal crash on Highway 62 on October 9.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened shortly after 5:30 AM. near the Seagraves city limits.
 
Based on a report, Wingo was traveling southbound on the highway in an SUV prior to the crash. At the same time, 21-year-old Brian Armendariz of Loop, Texas was traveling northbound in a pickup truck. Due to unknown reasons, Armendariz’s truck left its lane and crossed over the opposite lane, striking Wingo’s SUV.
 
Neither Wingo nor Armendariz were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
 
As a result, Wingo was taken to Brownfield Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
 
Later on, police arrested Armendariz for intoxication manslaughter. Reports did not state where he was taken after being arrested.
 
As of now, no further information is available and DPS is still investigating the crash.
