Eric Gomez Dies in Pickup Truck Accident on 10 Freeway in Hudspeth County

 
HUDSPETH COUNTY, TX (October 13, 2022) – Police identified 23-year-old Eric Gomez as the victim who died in a pickup truck accident on 10 Freeway on October 10.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near milepost 116 east of Sierra Blanca around 6:56 PM.
 
Based on a report, Gomez was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado in the right lane of the freeway prior to the crash. At the same time, a Peterbilt truck tractor towing a flatbed was stationary on the improved shoulder of freeway while awaiting roadside assistance.
 
Police said Gomez failed to drive in a single lane and veered onto the improved shoulder, striking the rear of the flatbed with its front end.
 
As a result, Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
In addition, Gomez’s vehicle came to rest upright and inoperable due to impact.
 
As of now , no further information is available and DPS is still investigating the crash.
