Otabek Mamadaliev Dies in Tyler Car Crash on 20 Freeway
TYLER, TX (May 3, 2023) — One person identified as 50-year-old Otabek T. Mamadaliev, of Newburgh, New York, died in a multi-vehicle crash.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, troopers responded to 20 Freeway just west of Lindale at around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26.
The initial investigation showed three semis and a passenger vehicle moving west on the 20 Freeway. One of the 18-wheelers crashed with the rear of the other two truck tractors and the car.
DPS reports said Mamadaliev, who drove the semi that collided with the other vehicles, died at a local hospital.
Paramedics transported another 18-wheeler driver, identified as 54-year-old Randy J. Rankins, Statesville, North Carolina, to a Tyler hospital for treatment.
The driver of the passenger car, identified as 56-year-old Beth F. Knox, of Lindale, also received treatment at a nearby medical center.
The driver of the third semi was not hurt. Authorities identified him as 60-year-old Jared L. Williams, of Shreveport, Louisiana.
The report said the weather was rainy at the time of the incident, and the road was wet.
Authorities said the crash is still under investigation.
