One Dead, Twelve Hurt in Metro Bus Accident on Battery Street in Seattle

 
SEATTLE, WA (November 7, 2023) — One person died and twelve others were hurt in a Metro bus accident on Battery Street on Saturday, November 4.
 
According to the Seattle Police Department, the crash took place near the Belltown section of Seattle at about 3:30 p.m.
 
A King County Metro bus moving east crashed into a red sedan traveling south at the intersection of Battery Street and 5th Avenue.
 
The impact of the crash pushed the Metro bus off the road. Then it struck a woman before it slammed into a building.
 
Officers pronounced the woman dead at the scene. They have not yet released her identity.
 
Firefighters extricated the driver of the sedan from his vehicle. They only described him as a 31-year-old man. Paramedics then rushed him to a hospital in critical condition.
 
The bus driver and eleven passengers suffered minor injuries from the crash. Authorities said all were in stable condition. Medics brought eight of them to a hospital.
 
Seattle Fire said there was no one inside the portion of the building the bus crashed into. There was also no significant structural damage to the building, they added.
 
Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
