Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 161 near 191st Street

 
GRAHAM, WA (November 7, 2023) — A man sustained fatal injuries after a pedestrian accident on Highway 161 on Wednesday, November 1.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred on southbound Highway 161 near 191st Street at around 8:29 p.m.
 
The incident report said a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas moved south on Highway 161, approaching 191st Street. Then it hit a pedestrian moving south on the right shoulder near the fog line.
 
WSP troopers responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. His identity was not yet available. They only described him as a 57-year-old Puyallup man.
 
The involved vehicle pulled over on the right shoulder and the driver remained at the scene.
 
Officers blocked the southbound lanes of the Highway near 194th Street East for around 2 hours and 45 minutes.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
