One Dead, Multiple Hurt in Traffic Crash on Highway 183

 
AUSTIN, TX (February 20, 2025) — One person died following a traffic accident on Highway 183 on Wednesday, February 12.
 
Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the scene on Highway 183 near McKenzie Road around 1:30 p.m.
 
Emergency responders assessed multiple individuals, and a STAR Flight medical helicopter also arrived at the scene. Medics attempted resuscitation efforts on one adult victim, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Others involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.
 
Following the crash, the Texas Department of Transportation temporarily closed all lanes of Highway 183 at FM 1625. They also advised drivers to expect significant delays and use alternate routes.
 
Authorities have not released further details about the individuals involved or the cause of the crash.
 
The incident remains under investigation.
