TACOMA, WA (December 13, 2023) – The Lakewood Police Department confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian accident on South Tacoma Way on December 5.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Highway 512 at approximately 6:30 AM. Based on a report, a man was northbound on South Tacoma Way at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck him in the lanes.
 
Police said the man in his 40s suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
The driver of the car stopped and called 911. Officers said impairment was not a factor in the incident.
 
The accident also closed the road between the STW Extension and Highway 512.
