GILA RIVER, AZ (September 22, 2023) – Officers confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian accident on 10 Freeway on September 12.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Highway 587. Based on a report, the person was running back and forth across the westbound lanes of traffic prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a semi-truck was traveling in the westbound lanes of the freeway. Due to unknown reasons, the truck hit the pedestrian. Police said the driver attempted to change lanes to avoid the victim but was unsuccessful.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the deceased’s name, pending kin notification.
