Sonya Anaya Identified in Fatal Car Crash on Highway 58 in Midland County
MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (September 21, 2023) – Officials identified 43-year-old Sonya Lujan Anaya of San Angelo who died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 58 on August 29.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened at CR 1135 around 6:50 PM. Based on a report, Anaya was a passenger of 42-year-old Damaco Omar Juarez of Odessa.
At the time of the crash, Juarez stopped his 2006 Nissan Altima at a private drive facing north on the south side of the highway. As he began to cross to CR 1135, he failed to yield the right of way from the private drive. 31-year-old Christopher Anthony Rodriguez then hit his Nissan with his GMC Sierra.
As a result, Anaya sustained grave injuries and died in the incident.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were not hurt.
The weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
